Cold this morning. I'm glad I started the front room pellet stove last night. Yesterday afternoon the last few plants and the pond pumps went down cellar.  The outside water is all turned off.
The peonies, hibiscus, phlox and hosta will be cut and the foliage cleaned away this week.  They will be mulched with compost.  The hibiscus will have some straw put on them.  Most of the other plants are left for the birds to eat the seeds and to protect their roots and the soil.Sometime I'll mulch the roses.  The climbing rose has gotten so large that I'm going to try hanging a polyester blanket over it.
May God bless you on this day, Sally
