Yesterday was truly a day of rest for me. I was very tired from battling this immune disease all week.  Doctors had warned me pemphigoid was not gone but in remission. The Lord is good, I am fine now but even though it was a beautiful day I knew I needed to rest.  I did take advantage of an empty house and scrub the kitchen floor.
Sadly there will be no Sunflower Maze this year.  The seeds were planted in mud so they didn't all germinate.  Sunflowers need sun, which has been lacking this summer.    The field was so wet that whenever Doug tried to cultivate mud  piled up on the cultivators.  So weeds grew unchecked.  A lot of work and money invested in a field that will become a beef cow pasture this week.  They are cutting the sunflowers that are in bloom and selling them at the vegetable stand for a dollar a stem.
Bekah had to wather the mums yesterday.  They are such large beautiful plants that with sun and breeze they quickly use up the moisture in their pot. I'm going to water my hanging baskets and containers.with fertilizer water today.  I'll probably use fertilizer in the water Thursday too.  The soil had been overly washed this year.
Despite the cucumber plants  ragged appearance they are able to pick enough cucumbers to keep the coolers full.  Lots of sweet and hot peppers and big beautiful sweet onions.  Onions for the grill or a cucumber onion sandwich?  The sweet onions are wonderful in pickles and relishes too.
May God bless you today.  Sally
