A sweet corn run yesterday.  We fed some of the first corn we bought to the hens, it wasn't really ready.  So we waited a bit before getting more.  Yesterday's corn was much better.
Darel's Heather and Jay carefully pulled all the stinging nettle they could find, put it in garbage bags and the bags went into the dumpster.  The seeds were beginning to mature and might have lived through the heat of the compost pile.  We know ladybugs love stinging nettle and it has lots of other values.  But it also stings.  And spreads very fast, sneaking into unexpected places.  Stinging nettle rash is very uncomfortable and heals slowly.. Why they were eliminating the nettles some burdock went too.
Heather and Bekah spent some time at the house that will be Maegan's. They want it to be "home" when Maegan and the girls get here Tuesday.  Then they planted some shrubs Bekah had been wanting.  She was afraid they would sell out before she got hers planted.  There is plenty of moisture for them to settle in.
I trimmed back the kitchen garden forsythia.  It loves the rain and is taking over.  I also pulled grass, weeds and creeping charlie.  Today I'll mulch around the perennials I freed.  I have a cardinal lobelia blooming.  This is the first time I've been able to get one to winter over.  Even though they grow wild along the streams I haven't been able to get any to grow by my little pond.
May God bless you on this day.  Sally.
