Carrots were added to the vegetables available in the stand. More potatoes were dug and other vegetables harvested. Bekah continued maintenance work in the perennial display. Both she and Jay mowed lawns. In the afternoon I worked on cleaning off the shelves in the cellar. Late afternoon Jay helped me. He finished the job in a half hour. I was thankful for his help. A lot of the jars are the old fashioned bale handled ones. I'm told there is a good market for them. I don't know where that is, for now I'm going to box them up and put them in an out of the way corner.
Yesterday morning I cleaned the stove, and the Andrews cleaned the chimney and stove pipe. There was quite a bit of creosote. The wood is very seasoned but I've had the stove shut down. In the summer I only get it going once a day to cook and boil water for iced tea. The rest of the time there is just enough fire to heat the water. A water pipe runs through the firebox. I cleaned the outside too so the stove is a shiny black. Soon I'll be hanging the herb dryer over it. With canning starting there will be plenty of heat to dry herbs.
Today's forecast says Bekah will be inside working on spring of 24 orders. Broccoli, cauliflower and lettuce are ready to be transplanted for fall planting. Also some perennials for next year. are ready to be transplanted.
May God bless you on this day, Sally
