Yesterday was a quiet day, truly a day of rest. I puttered around the house, children and grandchildren celebrated Father's Day. Big Andrew bought me supper. Enough supper so I have supper tonight too! The sun is shining through the clouds beckoning us to get back into the gardens. I'll be planting the next couple of days, trying to get plants settled in before the heat, Cucumbers, flowers and herbs.
The plan is for Jay to go to Jeff's and help him plant melons. Jeff is going to try raising themelons for the stand. Heather and Mike always raised our melons plus several other vegetables. Jay and Bekah are growing the other vegetables but decided there were not enough hours in the day to add the melons.
I've been saving the wood ashes from the cook stove for Bekah. There are a lot of buttercups growing in the heifer pasture. The buttercups like soil that tends on the acid side, the wood ashes will sweeten the soil and they will supposedly die out. We'll let you know how it works.
I have to go fill the bird feeders. During the rain the birds flocked to the feeders. May God bless you on this day, Sally
