Lots of puddles are gone in the yard but there are ponds in other places. A warm day for the first day of spring but some chilly weather is coming. Cold enough so that we will take the hose inside for a few nights. When we put it back out on the 30th we'll be moving the pansies out to an unheated greenhouse. Each day after that more plants will leave the big greenhouse to make room for heat loving flowers and vegetables.
Watching the birds as I worked in the kitchen yesterday was pleasant. One or two grackles and a few red wing black birds were all that were left of the flock that went through. So the blue jays, doves and woodpeckers were all at the feeders in the morning. They were joined by a flock of evening grosbeaks. A tufted titmouse, a chickadee and some finches took turns at the window feeders. In the afternoon all the smaller birds were coming to the feeders.
Jay and Bekah continued working on the small greenhouses yesterday, getting them ready to be moved into. Some things that would have usually been done in the fall but October was when Viilot's cancer was discovered.
The hoop house had a hard winter, it needed quite a bit of repair.
My beekeeper stopped by last night. This past winter has been hard on bees, a lot of hives didn't make it. He has ordered bees from an old bee keeper in Garland who didn't lose many hives. Hopefully the bees will be a tougher strain than we've had the last few years. The bees will come May 7th or 8th. Just in time to pollinate the fruit trees.
Church this morning. I'm letting the fire go out in the cook range so the chimney can be cleaned this afternoon. So I'll be cleaning the stove. Quite a few other things on my to do list for a Sunday but I want to finish the kitchen before Wednesday's shipment. With the windy forecast for the next few days I'm not going to want to do anything outside!
May God be with you on this day. Sally
