Darel had a pleasant day yesterday.  After visiting some friends Cindy bought out a take out turkey dinner from the churches Meal for Friends.  She visited a few hours before heading back to New Hampshire.
I'm glad to see the sun rising, it shines on the greenhouse as soon as it is up.  i put the propane heater in the back room last night on what i thought was a full tank of propane.  Sometime between two and five it ran out.    the temperature dropped to 42.  i stoked the fires, opened the draft a bit on the big stove and opened the door to the back room.  Even so i'm glad the sun mis going to shine.  I moved the hanging pots of pansies to the coolest part of the back room to harden off but I didn't intend to chill them last night!
First thing this morning, why the ground is frozen, I'm taking ashes up to the compost pile.  Both house ash cans are full as is the greenhouse barrel.  Enough snow has melted so that from now on I'll be able to spread them on the garden.  The SW breeze is supposed to warm the air quickly.  I'll be ready for some warm air, yesterday's wind was so cold.  Andrew says the garage they are building is out of the wind and it was a pleasant day for them.
Back to transplanting today.  Celery and then marigolds.  I'll be planting seeds ll week.  More flowers, lettuce and cole crops.  The lettuce can be planted in flower gardens, people are anxious for fresh lettuce.  And cole  plants can usually be set out as soon as the ground can be worked in May.  Forecasters are saying we will be able to start our gardens early this year.  Enjoy your day, Sally
