The forecast was for rain starting soon all day yesterday. We got two/100ths of an inch! That much probably dripped off us as sweat! I kept soaker hoses running but didn't have Tiffany do any watering. Fortunately Debbie comes on Fridays and will start watering the perennials soon.
We have crates of cucumbers and zucchini, nice potatoes, but they aren't growing larger, the lettuce has bolted and the cauliflower is turning pink in the heat. We have a few tomatoes, a customer is usually waiting for the green beans when we pick them. Lets hope next week's showers give us some moisture.
Catbirds are very shy, we usually just catch glimpse of them flitting through the bushes. Yesterday three fledglings found the maple syrup pan pond. They forgot to be shy they were having so much fun taking baths. They came to the pond several times to play in the water. We enjoyed them so much i put sunflower seeds out again. the blackbirds are gone, i may even put out a suet cake for the wood peckers. Several birds have been coming to the pond. Some of the swallows have left, as have the killdeer. Summer is going by too fast.
It is a little cooler today, I plan to plant the rest of the fall cauliflower. We'll water it well when we plant it, maybe I can find a sprinkler that works to soak the mulch. We are out of soaker hoses.
Have a good day, Sally
