7/17/16

Use your smile to change the world but never let the world change your smile.

Cloudy, calm and 64 degrees.  Thunderstorms today with a SSW breeze, a high of 77 and a low tonight of 60.  A possible afternoon thunderstorm tomorrow with a SSW breeze, a high of 86 and a low of 62.  Sunny Tuesday with a stiff NW breeze, a high of 75 and a low of 51.  Sunny  Wednesday with a WNW breeze, a high of 81 and a low of 56.  Sunny Thursday with a nice WSW breeze, a high of 86 and a low of 62.  Still a nice breeze Friday with some clouds, a high of 90 and a low of 65.  Scattered thunderstorms Saturday with a SWS breeze, a high of 87 and a low of 64.  Sunny next Sunday with a NW breeze, a high of 86 and a low of 61.  Possible afternoon showers next Monday with a light WNW breeze, a high of 86 and a low of 61.  After a partly cloudy day next Tuesday there will be showers and scattered thunderstorms every day through Sunday, the 31st.  Highs  will be in the mid eighties with SSW breezes.
Started out the day by noticing a big bull thistle about to blossom in the grapes.  When I went to cut it down I noticed a branch with black knot on it on the plum tree so I cut it out.  Buckets of "bad stuff" go on a pile down in the woods, not our garden compost pile.  We have a couple pieces of horse drawn machinery on display.  When we get busy "bad stuff" like burdock take root around them.  Rosemarie and Debbie had already sent a couple bucket loads down to the woods cleaning up around the machinery but I managed to fill the bucket with "bad stuff so  another full load went to the woods.  It is amazing how quickly bad stuff moves in if we aren't right on top of it.  We are going to hire Doug's hired man for a day to help us put ground cover and mulch under the machinery so it will look nice with less work.
In the afternoon I went to Kristen's wedding.  Everything went very well.  I am so glad the thunderstorms held off until today.  On the way home Doug and Nicole dropped me off at the town hall where Darel was saving the traditional Smith spot to watch the fireworks from.  After a beautiful fireworks display we got home about ten-thirty.  Way past my bedtime!  Hopefully I can stay awake during the sermon!
The grandkids watch the fireworks form the back of our pickup so I couldn't put crates of water in it for the flowers at church yesterday.  i need to do that now, I can't trust the thundershowers to give them enough water.  I also need to change the ice in the vegetable coolers.  I won't try to pick any vegetables until I get home from church.
      Have a good day, Sally
