Yesterday a couple with six children who attend our church came to help at the greenhouse. Plants flew as they moved many many plants. Most went to display benches. the perennials were all set out. Plants that needed to grow more or harden off went in that cold frame. Once we finished moving plants one girl helped Rose transplant broccoli and the like. Because of the cold temperatures we are late transplanting so the little plants are going in the back room. the back room is warmer than the coldframe so they will grow faster.
A couple other kids mulched the potatoes. The rain would have caused lots of weed seeds to germinate if they didn't get deprived of light. And the mulch will hold in that precious moisture. The rest of the family got all the trays ready for me to plant cucumber, squash pumpkin seeds, etc. Thee is a rule that if a freshman makes a varsity team they still have to play with the JV team so Rachael has had a game or practice every day. Tiffany has worked less because she wants to finish school. Gilbert has helped a lot but he has his work. Dale, Rose's husband, is better than he was this winter but still not able to work. I slept well last night, no waking up wondering how I was going to get everything done. I am still getting up around midnight and putting wood on the fire. Even with the clouds there is enough sun so I didn't put wood on the fire this morning.
Still lots to do do today, I hope your day is good, Sally
