5/14/16

Smiles are contagious so go forth and contaminate as many people as you can!

53 degrees, misty and calm.  Rain during the night did a good job of watering everything.  Partly cloudy today with a west breeze, a high of 77 and a low of 50 tonight.  Rain tomorrow with a stiff SW breeze, a high of 56 and a low of 37.  AM showers Monday with a west wind, a high of 50 and a low of 38.  Cloudy Tuesday with a stiff WNW breeze, a high of 59 and a low of 39.  Wednesday we begin to warm up with partly cloudy skies, a high of 64, a NW breeze and a low of 42.  Sunny Thursday with the same NW breeze, a high of 66 and a low of 44.  Friday will be the same only warmer with a high of71 and a low of 47.  Pleasant next weekend with west breezes, highs of 75 and lows of 50.  The next week will be mostly pleasant with the same temperatures, highs about 75 and lows about 50.    AM showers Friday, the 27th and rain Saturday, the 29th.
The sun is trying to break through the clouds for another pleasant day.  We need to soak up the heat to prepare for the next three days.  I'm glad for the rain but I will be so glad when we don't have any more of these cold nights.
Lots of transplanting was done yesterday, more will be done today.  We have several containers of mixed flowers that will just shrug off the chilly temperatures.  Rose will be starting on the ones that enjoy the summer heat tomorrow.  We'll keep them in the hoop house for awhile.
Lots of people have had hummingbirds at their feeders.  I haven't seen any yet.  We often see them in the greenhouse but the greenhouse is mostly vegetables now, no hanging plants to attract them.
Tiffany spent yesterday arranging the perennials and getting saucers under all of them to take advantage of last night's rain.  Several of the benches had several kinds mixed together.  Now the hostas are in the shade of the apple tree and the other plants are displayed so customers can find what they are looking for.  We are excited to see the number of plants that are showing a bit of green.  Everything is so late this spring!
Hoping you are having a good spring, enjoy today, Sally
