About ten yesterday morning the water stopped.  Gilbert put on another new pressure switch in case that one had been defective.  No such luck.  After some checking he found the wires going into the well were frayed.  By then Andrew was here.  The wires were repaired, still no water.  So they spent the rest of the day out in the cold and the NW wind pulling the pump and installing a new one.  We had an extra pump here because a few hours can make a difference in dry plants.  We did make another run to Bailey's for odds and ends.  Water started running from the faucet about six.  And as the sun began to set the wind died down.  I'm sure it took them awhile to get warm.  Darel and I are very blessed to have sons who care so much.
Doug went to the store where he got the frost free faucet for a part before he left to catch the ferry.  They didn't have the part.  We were able to get it at Baileys.  We saw a lot of that store yesterday!  Doug has already left this morning to catch the first ferry.  Gilbert will fix the valve today.  We hope that is the end of plumbing problems!  I am so glad I watered the pump waited to die until after i watered the plants Monday.
We couldn't run the kitchen range with no water.  The house didn't cool off to much yesterday.  But even though we started the fire as soon as we had water the house cooled off when the sun went down.
Today we move plants.  As fast as we make space in the greenhouse we'll be filling the empty space with flowers waiting to be transplanted.  I'll be planting tomatoes in the next few days.  Then  cabbage, broccoli, etc.  They can be planted outside in the cool weather of early May.  With the forecast of heavy rain and wind I'm going to put the pansies in the hoop house.  I hate to move them twice but they are so pretty I don't want them torn up.  They do want out of the hot greenhouse.  Going to the hoop house will harden them off nicely.
Time to go fill the bird feeders and take hot water out to the hens.  Warmer temperatures will be so good for the robins.  Enjoy your day, Sally
