This is the last single number we will see for several months, I hope. I had thought I wasn't going to be thawing the chicken water anymore. The up side is the greenhouse so needed the sunny days we've had with this cold spell. Thanks to the sun I had to water yesterday but Gilbert helped with the hose so it didn't freeze up why I was running it. Sunday's weather is nothing to be happy about, maybe it will go out to sea. We are thankful the last snow stayed in southern New England. Darel dumped more wood by the greenhouse back door for Gilbert to put in. The forecast says we'll be needing fires for awhile.
First the greenhouse chimney, then the pressure switch, now a leak in the horse barn. We think that perhaps back six weeks or so ago when it froze that it got a hair line crack and hooking and unhooking the hose caused it to widen. Doug is going back and forth to North Haven building a fence. The ferry schedule dictates his time so we are going to have to be very gentle with the faucet until he can schedule a repair. Probably Andrew or Gilbert can figure it out if necessary but Doug had always fixed that faucet. These no freeze faucets seem to have problems. I hope the saying, "things come in threes" is right and nothing else goes.
The gold finches are turning gold and I have to wear a scarf and gloves to feed them! I don't know what the robins are finding to eat. Rotten apples? Last fall was a good apple year.
Have a good day, Sally
