4/4/16

Hold the door, say please and thank-you. don't steal, cheat and lie. I know you've got mountains to climb but always stay humble and kind. Tim McGraw

A long night but I was able to keep the greenhouse temperature at 60.  We were fortunate, we did not lose power.  The wind has died down, it is clear and 9 degrees.   A WNW breeze today with a few cloudy, a high of 34 and down to 14 tonight.  Sunny tomorrow with a stiff NNW breeze, a high of 33 and a low of 15.  Wednesday will be sunny with a high of 40, a WSW breeze and a low of 28.  Rain Thursday with a south wind, a high of 50 and a low of 46.  Light AM rain Friday with a stiff SSE breeze, a high of 50 and a low of 36.  AM rain Saturday, possibly some snow flurries mixed in, a west breeze with a high of 40 and a low of 25.  Cloudy Sunday with a WNW breeze, a high of 40 and a low of 26.   Partly cloudy next Monday with a SW breeze, a high of 48 and a low of 34.
Unsettled weather Wednesday, the 13th. through Monday, the 18th, with showers nearly every day, Highs in the mid fifties and lows around 37.
A lot of people lost power yesterday.  The men on the fire department spent a chilly day out in the wind doing traffic control because of downed lines in the road at a couple different locations.
I lost the telephone line to the store and greenhouse five minutes after I used the credit card machine.  A customer bought $108.00 worth of honey.  I have two pints left.  The April sun is so strong that even with the strong cold wind I had to run the big greenhouse fan yesterday to exhaust too hot air.  I think the weather made people want to go  into hibernation, we only had 3 kids in our Sunday School class.
The sun is shining on the greenhouse.  I'm going out ot see how much wood I should put on the fires.  With no wind the sun will heat it up fast.  Then I'm going back to bed.  It was nine-thirty before I felt comfortable going to bed last night and then i got up every couple of hours.  But the greenhouse is fine, I'm not sure about the shrubs and perennials.  Or the tulips and daffodils that are up.  Have a good day, Sally
