8/31/26   “Tomorrow’s world will be shaped by what we teach our children today.”

An inch of rain yesterday afternoon. It was 49 degrees this morning. Sunshine today with a NW breeze, high 76, low 48.  Partly cloudy tomorrow, an east breeze, high 77, low 51.  Mostly cloudy Wednesday, a NE breeze, high 73, low 57.  Rain Thursday with a brisk SE breeze.  

High 66, low 59.  Showers Friday, a brisk NNW breeze, high 72, low 46.  Cloudy Saturday, a strong NNE breeze, high 71, low 50.  The forecast is for partly cloudy Sunday the 6th through Monday the 14th.  A north breeze Sunday, high 75, low 50.  A WNW breeze Labor Day, high 78, low 52.  WSW breezes Tuesday the 8th through Friday the 11th with highs in the upper seventies, lows in the upper fifties.  WSW and west breezes the weekend of the 12th and 13th and Monday the 14th. highs in the seventies, lows about 53.

    Yesterday's downpour was not all good  news.  The weather app said rain would start in an hour as the kicker kicked the last bale in the wagon.  The wagon headed across the field to where Bekah and crew were waiting to unload it into a covered trailer.  The  skies opened up, not a few sprinkles, a deluge.  The bales were wet before they could tarp it.  At least the bales only got the beginning of the inch thanks to the tarp.   Darel not only repaired the front of the barn last week but he rebuilt the haymow door on the south end.  Wind had damaged it too. So the haymow was secured against the rain.  It is very wet out this morning, so I won't be tempted to skip housework.

    Most hummingbirds left Thursday or Friday.  About a week early.  There were a few hummingbirds this weekend but they were passing through.  Our hummingbirds fly around me when I fill the feeders   And they pay no attention to people in the window.  Saturday the few birds that were here flew up in a tree and scolded me when I was in the kitchen garden.   If anyone came to the window they left. 

   Public school starts today.  Reading, writing and arithmetic for home schooled grandchildren starts on the 8th.  They have hybrid classes.  Three days a week at home,then  they attend classes two days a week at the Charleston church.
