After a pleasant breakfast with my sister I went to my doctor's appointment.  I sat there two hours, not because of some kind of medical emergency but because  somehow the scheduling had combined two days into one.  Of course it was the computer's fault!   There were a lot of unhappy doctors and patients.  My doctor was her usual  caring self.  Although she did spend some time harping (her word) at me because I lost some weight.
When I got home I picked up drps from the apple trees in the garden.  Bekah had already picked up some from the orchard.  A mixture of apples makes better applesauce and pies.  When we make muffins we just use whatever variety is handy.  Mostly we plan to make applesauce.  Country Junction donated two more apple trees to the Historical Society.  A Wolf River, a very old variety.  At one time nearly every Bradford home had one in their yard.  The other tree is a Cortland, not as old as Wolf River but is considered a heritage apple.  Cortlands were developed by Cornell at the beginning of the 20th century.  They quickly became a favorite of both commercial orchards and homeowners.
We got frost, the backyard is white.  There is some frost in the kitchen garden but the morning glories didn't get hit.  The zinnas along the garage are ok.  I have some purple waves at the base of a post bird feeders hang on.  No ice on the little pond.  When I filled the feeders this morning they looked pretty frosty.  Lots of blue jays and chickadees are coming to the feeders along with the little brown birds and a few doves..
May your day be blessed, Sally
