The cook range and chimney are all cleaned and ready for the cold snap.  Jay didn't just clean the chimney.  He took the stove pipe apart and cleaned it out too.  The stove had so much draft we had to shut it way down last night!   It always brightens up the kitchen when it is freshly scrubbed.  It is big and shiny black, dominating the kitchen.    This afternoon we will let the pellet stoves run out of pellets and clean them.
I'm happy about the snow tonight.  The north wind will pile snow against the back of the house.  No matter how well the house gets banked nothing seems to insulate it more than a drift of snow against it.
May you day of giving thanks and rest be blessed, Sally
