A beautiful day for the Fourth.  We went to the boat parade in the morning, Gilbert and Barbies in the afternoon.  Good food, a pleasant breeze as I sat watching everyone enjoy the water.  Cindy spent a lot of time on the boat with Gilbert pulling the kids on a tube.  Kids that are really young adults now. but still the kids to us.
At home hay wagons were rolling. One mow was filled up by nightfall.  I got home early enough to do laundry, dishes and make more iced tea..  The hens didn't take a day off so there were eggs to collect and box.   Darel camt to help put the last load in.  His strength and height made it go in much faster.    They wanted it in quickly so the Amish boys weren't going home in the dark.  Their buggy has lots of reflectors and a lamp on it but Doug and Bekah preferred they not be on the road after dark.    We are very glad they are our "crew"   . They aren't very large but they are strong and wiry with an excellent work ethic.  They follow instructions but they also think all the time.  They get to work a few minutes early and never have to stop and check their phone.  "English"  teenagers would do well to take a page out of their book.
Thanks to Darel's help, Jay and Bekah were able to end a long day by going up to Andrew and Gayle's for a swim and to watch the fireworks on the lake.  When Doug came in from the field he bought the round baler.  I took him up to get the tractor and square baler.  He has lights on the tractor but I followed him with flashers.  Both balers were put undercover, probably why we didn't get any of the showers around!
Jay will be picking cucumber, zucchini and summer squash this morning.  And digging potatoes.  Bekah has some broken bales to take care of.  She and Doug may have some round baales to wrap.  Unless we get hit by a strong thunderstorm they will be watering. I'll be back in my flower beds and visiting with Cindy.
May God bless you on this day.  Sally
