Jay and Bekah are loading hay. They want to get the trailer filled before customers start coming.  Nearly the last load of the 23/24 season.
Last night Jay put a super on the bee hive.  The hive wintered well, there were lots of bees .Now we hope there will be enough moisture for a good crop of honey.  Last year there was way too much moisture.  This year, despite the cloudy weather and showers, things are dry.  Soaker hoses are running all day.  Maegin and Jay worked on the pond yesterday.  Maegin plans to do more today.  Jay fixed the liner so the pond isn't leaking.   We can't afford to waste water!  Today we'll put in the pump.  Then water will trickle down a log into the pond giving the bees a place to drink. The patch of cat tails has gotten too large.  It will be cut in half.  There will be more room for the lilies, giving the frogs lots of  lily pads to hide in for protection  from hungry crows.. .  Izzy and Ayden's class in school is raising tadpoles.  When school gets out they will come live in the renovated pond.
Maegin is going to redo the landscaping once the pond is renovated.  It has been a popular spot for photographers to use as a background for pictures.  Last year's rain didn't help the plants around the pond.  Plus  kids moved some key rocks that were holding the liner in place.  No unsupervised kids allowed at the pond this year!  This year there will be a donation can for the photographers to donate toward the upkeep.
May God bless you on this day, Sally
