Yesterday was a planned day of rest for everyone. Plans don't always work out. Animals were cared for, Vegetable coolers in the stand were filled, and of course some house work had to be done. But with so few hay days this summer hay that was ready was baled and had to be loaded. And Jay helped a nursery customer who came why he was changing the ice in the coolers. She didn't know the nursery was closed on Sundays. I did some watering and picked blueberries.
Today is a hay day. So Bekah built fence yesterday, Every few days the heifers get put on new pasture. Usually small areas that would be too small for the beef herd. I'll work in the kitchen garden today and take the alternator core to the parts store for credit. I watered the flowers at church yesterday.
Egg production is down. All the animals get fresh water in cleaned waterers every day. The water buckets and tubs are kept full of cool water. Including the hens. I cut fresh grass for them every day. But they don't eat as much when it is hot so they don't lay as many eggs. Increased production will be a plus with the cooler weather in the forecast. At the end of August the pullets will start laying.
May God bless you on this day, Sally
