We are being asked when we will start planting our warm weather vegetables. The ones we plant in black plastic under remay we'll probably plant the week of the 22ed. Unprotected crops will wait until the first week in June. There will be a full moon June third, a frost might slink over us that week. Target dates for peppers are the first week in June when we see the weather forecast, melons are the middle of June.
Lots of shrubs and perennials left yesterday. Bekah is working on a second nursery order and an order for more Coast of Maine. People who have porches with lots of windows or greenhouses are buying vegetables. Sunshine meant lots of watering but both us and the plants were happy to see it.
Jay and I hooked up the water lines. Well Jay hooked them up as I walked along and showed him how they were laid out. Tim came and checked our bees. The hive of bees we had last year left last fall. They returned this spring. Tim and Jay set up a second hive, the new bees will come today. We'll set out a little watering spot for them right next to the hives.
Today is the first day of Open Greenhouse week. Usually we are open Tuesday through Saturday but in May we are open seven days a week. On Sundays in May we open when we get home from church and close at four. Last night I made up slips for the daily door prizes we give out this week.
May God bless you on this day, Sally
