3/14/22 Monday, the 2ed day of a new week. On the 1st day we gave thanks to, worshiped our Lord and promised Him we would "church" all weed. "Church", a verb meaning to love our neighbor and beyond.
A pleasant walk to the greenhouse this morning with no need to brace myself against the wind. Clouds covered the stars and it was 15 degrees. 17 degrees now on its way to a high of 39 with a stiff WSW breeze with breaks of sun. Dropping to 27 tonight. Cloudy tomorrow with a NW breeze, a high of 44, a low of 29. Morning clouds/afternoon sun Wednesday with a WSW breeze, a high of 49, a low of 31. Cloudy Thursday with a stiff south breeze, a high of 54, a low of 38. Some sun Friday with a west breeze, a high of 61, a low of 36. light rain after midnight. Rain with some snow mixing in Saturday night and Sunday morning. A brisk ENE breeze, Saturday with a high of 43, a low of 33. A strong NNW breeze Sunday with a high of 43, a low of 29. Unsettled weather the first week of spring through the weekend of the 26th and 27th. Highs in the mid forties, lows around thirty. Snow may mix in with some of the showers.
Snow must have covered nature's finch food. Yesterday morning the feeders were mobbed so I threw a coffee can of sunflower seeds over the snow. By the time I got in the house and looked out the window the snow was covered with birds, mostly finches. When I got home from church the feeders were empty, the seeds on the snow were eaten. I threw another coffee can of seed out and it was gone by evening. We have one pair of cardinals coming to the feeders. They must be nesting close by.
Bekah did some more rearranging in the greenhouse yesterday. We decided how many trays of marigolds to plant. We'll start the first planting of marigolds today, the second planting April 4th. How many flowers can we grow and still leave plenty of room for vegetables? That is our challenge! The week of the 21st we'll move the pansies out to the unheated greenhouse. Pansies are always happy to get out of the hot greenhouse.. Their blossoms are larger and more vibrant when they are cooler. Marigolds will go where they are in the big greenhouse.
Andrew and Gayle got from the Outer Banks about ten last night. It is always a good day when they get home. They worked there right up to leaving and people here are asking how soon the Andrews can start work. Lil Andrew and Debbie are painting my ceilings today before things get busier.
May God be with you on this day, Sally.
