Too often we underestimate the power of a kind word, a touch, a listening ear, a compliment, a small act of caring, all of which can turn a life around.
The sky is clearing after a night of thunderstorms rolling around, giving us an inch of rain. Now we'll have WEEK OF CHILLY WEATHER BEFORE IT WARMS UP AGAIN.
It is 55 degrees with a light WNW breeze that will become a wind as the day progresses with a high of 68 and a low of 45. Cloudy tomorrow, still windy, with a high of 61 and a low of 45. Cloudy Friday with a WNW breeze, a high of 62 and a low of 46. Partly cloudy Saturday with a WSW breeze, a high of 70 and a low of 42. Rain on Sunday with a stiff west breeze, a high of 60 and a low of 49. Rain and a WNW wind on Monday with a high of 62 and a low of 50. Showers Tuesday with a north wind, a high of 67 and a low of 50. I could do without the wind and cold but I'm glad for the rain. The long range forecast shows the end of June and all of July dry. Partly cloudy next Wednesday with a NNW breeze, a high of 73 and a low of 52. Sunny next Thursday with a WNW breeze, a high of 77 and a low of 54. Partly cloudy Friday, the 17th, a NW breeze, a high of 75 and a low of 53. A possible shower Saturday with a NW breeze, a high of 77 and a low of 55. The next four days are forecast to be pleasant with highs of 80 plus and lows in the upper fifties.
Walking straight and comfortable after a visit to the doctor's yesterday. i have another visit in two weeks in case I don't stay like this. I'm scheduled for a haircut and perm this morning. Than back to gardening. There won't be any black flies for a few days, good days to attack the weeds. Rosemarie and Tiffany will help weed but they will mostly be potting up the fall mums. Tiffany got the grass mowed yesterday before the rain. Heather put a turkey pie in y freezer so even though I'll be taking this morning off i'll be able to put a full day in the garden.
The first thing I need to do is see how the cucumber beetles fared in the rain. If it didn't set them back I will put some dust on the summer squash and sweet mama buttercup squash. Everything else is under remay. Between us we've seen a total of five Japanese beetles. Are the chickens keeping them in check or have they just not arrived. The chickens do a lot of scratching and digging for grubs. Gilbert hasn't seen any in his raspberries and he doesn't have any hens. His black raspberries are covered in blossoms. Deer damaged several of Doug's blueberries. At least he thins it was a deer.
As I look at the sweatshirt and jacket forecast I keep reminding myself of what pleasant working weather it willl be. Enjoy your day, Sally
