At one AM ! got up to put wood on the fires, the temperature was 48, I went back to bed. And slept until six! I hadn't fed the birds last night, they were feeling very neglected. The finches sat in the dogwood tree and scolded me why I filled the feeders.
It is good I don't have many hanging plants left. Rosemarie had the day off yesterday, it was hard to get everything watered and to wait on customers. I didn't get much else done. There are lots of flowers to move out to the display benches and lots of transplanting to do. Since Rosemarie is working the week end days she has today off too.
I heard a killdeer one night, I haven't seen or heard any more. There are very few swallows around. Some people have their bluebirds back, I haven't seen any. Nor have I seen any bobolinks. I did see a cowbird this morning, I don't get too excited about them. Trees are leafing out, slowly and late. The sun and warmth of the next few days will make them pop.
This is a sad day around here. A sixth grade girl collapsed while ruuning during track practice Monday, she died yesterday. A girl who was everyone's fried. Rachael is friends with her sister.
Have a good day, Sally
