4/26/16
Never be defined by your past. It was a lesson, not a life sentence.

Calm, 27 degrees with some clouds.  Cloudy today with a light SE breeze, a high of 49 and a low of 28 tonight.  Sunny tomorrow with a WNW breeze, a high of 51 and a low of 26.  Partly cloudy Thursday with a NW breeze, a high of 50 and a low of 28.  Sunny Friday with a WNW breeze, a high of 56 and a low of 32.  Partly cloudy Saturday, Open greenhouse and Nursery Day with a light NE breeze, a high of 6o and a low of 35.  Mostly cloudy Sunday with a light NNE breeze, a high of 62 and a low of 38.  Cloudy Monday with an ESE breeze, a high of 61 and a low of 38.  An ENE breeze next Tuesday with clouds, a high of 58 and a low of 40.   Wednesday, May 4th, starts a week of showers with east breezes.  Daytime highs will increase a few degrees each day with a high of 64 on the 9th.  Lows will be in the mid to upper forties.
Another busy day.  And evening spent tucking in flowers as the wind finally died down and the temperature began dropping.  Today will seem warmer without that cold NW breeze.  It comes back tomorrow and we'll all be glad to see the pattern change Sunday.  I even covered the pansies again last night so Darel wouldn't worry about the snow forecast for southern Maine sneaking up here.
I did get the new price list done .  Some things were raised a little but no big jumps.  For a little greenhouse/nursery we offer a lot.  That is why I'm tucking plants in at night, we should have another  greenhouse we could put some heat in.  Even when the weather warms up I do a lot of "blanketing".  We so often have wind in May that I try to sell plants that are already hardened off.  I can't move them in and out so I put them out under remay gradually taking it off.  The first year we were in Maine I set our tomato plants out for a few hours for a couple of days, then planted them, soaking the ground..  Two days later they were dead, dried out by the wind.
Last year I didn't put remay on my cucumbers, May was so pleasant and warm and I had done fine without the year before.  Early June turned cold, wet and windy.  I and many others lost our cucumber plants and had to replant.  Gilbert put remay on his, they were beautiful.  I will be covering mine this year.  I sell remay in our store only it is call ag fabric.  It is a wonderful tool.  Old see through curtains would probably do the same thing.
Filtered sun is slowly raising the temperature.  I won't be hurrying to open everything up today.  I can't complain about the cold or even the dryness, we have  no snow or tornado watches!  Have a good day, Sally
