A moment of the busiest day spent appreciating the wonders of the world God has create is never lost.
28 degrees, still and clear. A NNW wind today, sunny with a high of 54 and a low tonight of 32. Sunny tomorrow with a WNW breeze, a high of 55 and a low of 29. Partly cloudy Tuesday with a light NNW breeze, a high of 51 and a low of 28. Sunny Wednesday with a stiff NNW breeze, a high of 50 and a low of 28. Partly cloudy Thursday with a NW breeze, a high of 52 and a low of 31. Partly cloudy Friday with a light NNE breeze, a high of 56 and a low of 35. Mostly sunny Saturday, April 30th, Open Greenhouse and Nursery Day, with a NNW breeze, a high of 60 and a low of 36. Partly cloudy next Sunday with a NW breeze, a high of 60 and a low of 36. The forecast for several days of showers the first week in May has dropped to a few showers Monday, the 2ed, through Thursday, the 5th. with highs in the low sixties and lows in the low forties. Same temperatures for the 6th and 7th with a few clouds. Nine days with no moisture and then just a few showers is not good.
I usually wait for the soil to warm up more before I start mulching but with such a dry forecast I may stat mulching vegetables that do OK in cooler soil as soon as I plant them. I'll probably plant the vegetables that want warm soil in black plastic. I put soaker hoses on the things we planted and gave the rows a good soaking yesterday.
Much of the day was spent putting saucers and trays under perennial pots. The lilacs and some other things were water. We'll finish this afternoon.
Several customers yesterday, We only have a few black petunias left. Tiffany put a picture of them on Facebook and they've been selling ever since. Even though people know they have to keep them inside until it warms up. With this week's chilly forecast I'll be putting blankets on the flowers that are in the unheated greenhouse and cold frames every night.
Lots of peppers and tomatoes have been transplanted. We still have more to do and it is time to transplant vegetables in the cabbage/broccoli family. Next week we start cucumbers and squash.
With the chilly temperatures I'm not sure how much I can open everything up before i leave for Sunda School. But the sun is bright and strong, it will heat everything up.
Have a good day, Sally
