Yesterday everything needed water. By the time I finished I knew how much we have this year! Hopefully we have enough so we don't start running out Memorial weekend like we did last year. I like to have a nice choice of flowers for people moving to camp in June. We have more wave petunias but we probably will run out of them, we only have so much hanging space. We have some purple waves in 601 trays. Rachael is going to put them in hanging pots today. We'll put them in the hoop house for a third round.
Quite a few pansies sold yesterday. Andrew, Annabelle and I planted the pansies in the sign box at church last night. Annabelle is right into planting and was very proud of the results. Some of the pansies were a little deep and needed some tweaking from Great Grandma.
The birds are chilly this morning. The doves and robins are puffed up twice their normal size. There are only a few pine siskens left, most of them have headed north. I haven't heard the second male cardinal for a few days. I hope he found a local mate and didn't leave to find one. I don't expect to see them again until fall.
I bought a trellis fence to use across the opening of the baker on the barn. I want the chickens to start "tick patrol" around the yard and out back in my garden. I don't want them to go in the baker and roost on Doug's jeep and the machinery. So far I'm just letting them out behind the barn.
Have a good day, Sally
