I started the greenhouse fire about two this morning.  Not because of the temperature but to dry the air.  prevent mold is the main goal for the next week.
At dusk, long after the birds had all gone to roost, the male cardinal spent fifteen minutes in the feeder.  A steady stream of sunflower hulls were coming out one side of his beak.  If there are eggs in a nest somewhere I hope they can keep them warm during this cold spell.
I pruned hanging waves yesterday.  Rosemarie made up flower bowls.  Rachael transplanted some petunias.  I'll prune purple waves today and  Rosemarie will stick the prunings for more plants.    They are putting in short days and today will be the last day until Wednesday.  No matter how creative I get I can't make any more room in the greenhouse.  Wednesday we'll move to the back room and cold frame.
Gilbert took old soil out of the hoop house and put in compost and new soil.  Now it is all ready for tomato plants.  i have the tomato plants that go in there started.  We hope to set them out about May 1st.  I have an electric heater in the hoop house for cold nights.  Tomatoes sulk if they get cold.
      Have a good day, Sally
