Yesterday was pleasant, very windy. I didn't try to hang clothes out. The wind blew the blackflies away. Today is cold, we are starting the pellet stoves to warm up the house. We weeded more and planted a few things. Jay weeded and hilled potatoes. Gilbert did his too. Gilbert finished hilling his, Jay has a couple more days of work.
I've decided I want strawberries in my raised beds. But one had potatoes last year, another had tomatoes. Strawberries aren't supposed to follow either of those crops. A few years ago Gilbert planted five rows of strawberries. Two didn't do well. Research told us strawberries should not be planted where nightshade crops had been. The two rows that didn't do well were where potatoes had been the year before. I'm planting celery and parsley where I had tomatoes last year.
May your day be blessed, Sally
