It warmed up enough yesterday so the black flies came out. The stiff breezes helped. Everyone was thankful the wind dropped to a stiff breeze so we could plant . Little seedlings don't do well with wind, even if they are hardened off. Watering is a constant job. Only one pellet stove going this morning. We are rationing our pellets. We'll burn the last of them tomorrow morning. Patchy frost is forecast for northern Maine tomorrow morning. They sold out of cucumber seedlings yesterday but still have the other vegetables.
Today is cut bamboo day. The dump is open today, the bamboo needs to go to the dump and be burned in their burn pile. It isn't safe in the compost pile, it roots too easily. Four family members make up a Renewal by Anderson crew. They are going to bring us some of the heavy cardboard the windows come in. We are going to try smothering the bamboo with it. Google says to put a tarp on it for five years. While in Corinth they will get another fitting and propane so the propane range can be hooked up in the summer kitchen we are setting up. The new dehydrator came yesterday. A beautiful machine! We're anxious to use it but we don't have anything to dry yet. We'lll get it setup and ready.
May your day be blessed, Sally
