Last night got colder than I expected and it was five degrees lower than the weatherman expected. But there are no more thirties for a low in the forecast. I'm going to put the scented geraniums on the baker's rack on the back deck. Carefully wrapped in ag fabric for protection from the cold and wind as they adjust to the outdoors. I have the hanging fuchsias that spent the winter in the cellar. They've been under lights in the front room for several weeks, They will also go in a sheltered corner outside wrapped in remay to harden off.
Strawberryand blueberry plants and asparagus came yesterday. The strawberry plants are heeled in trays so there is no hurry planting them. Customers can buy however many plants whenever they are ready to plant them. Gilbert has planted his asparagus already, He had the beds already. Today he is working on the strawberry beds. He said it must have only been cold for a short time. There was ice in his wheelbarrow but none on the warm ground.
This afternoon the Prides Corner Farm order comes. It is a large order, they deliver it on their truck. The plants are all potted up, ready to plant and enjoy. The timing is perfect, no more thirties! At least in the two week forecast. At the end of two weeks they will be hardened off.
May your day be blessed, LS
