We only got 3 or 4 inches yesterday of snow and snow pellets. There is enough crust on the snow so that I threw the sunflower seed on the snow, out of the wind this morning. The government weather forecast service changed their long range forecast to a colder than average February, March and April all along the northern tier of the country. Including all of New England. They are still forecasting a warm May. They say the snowpack will keep us cold.
Jay made out fairly well delivering flowers yesterday. Bangor had a lot of rain mixed in the snow. He wasn't able to make as many deliveries as he had Wednesday. Both he and Maegin are delivering today. Our road, Rt 11, is among the roads listed as affected by blowing snow today, causing sudden whiteout conditions. Bangor had enough rain so they won't have much blowing snow.
Yesterday UPS bought us a titanium cutting board and stainless steel straws. The plastic cutting board we use for meat because it can go in the dishwasher went in the garbage. Less micro plastic in our food and drink. We had read that plastic cutting boards held onto bacteria even when put through the dishwasher. A few more steps towards our goal of a healthier kitchen.
Doug has rolled out hay down in the cedars for the cows. The cows will pick through it for any that is good, mostly they will just rest on it with the cedars protecting them from the wind. As I watch the wind blowing snow into Gilbert's driveway I'm thankful we are warm. I'm looking forward to the last week of the month when we will see moderating temperatures. May you have a Blessed Valentine's Day. Sally
