Josephine is home and doing great. Last night I got a picture of her cousin, born last July, outside enjoying 40 plus degree weather . Their forecast for the next couple of weeks is for more above average temperatures. It seems to take about ten-fifteen days for their weather to drift our way. Are we looking at above average temperatures in a couple weeks? The warm weather isn't good for the Iditarod race. Lack of snow means a ceremonial start in Anchorage then trucking the dogs north to a place on the trail where there is more snow and hopefully colder temperatures,
Smoke coming out of the greenhouse stove signaled cars passing by that spring is getting close in North Bradford. The fires were started a day earlier than planned because Bekah just couldn't wait another day. The soil barrels are full of wet soil, the water barrels are full of water with nine 5 gallon buckets full to use mixing more soil. As it heats up all that wet soil and that water will heat up to help keep the greenhouse warm when the sun isn't shining. The sun will heat the greenhouse up to ninety today. There are 50 bales of soil that need to thaw, lots of mass to soak up the heat.
Bekah spent time on the phone with the plug and cutting supplier going over the weekly shipments. There have been very few cancellations and back orders. As always there were some plants that the sales reb suggested moving back or ahead a week. Bekah was able to get some rose waves, a new color that was sold out early last fall. Their germination rate was very good so they had extra.
May your day be blessed, Sally
