The seedlings large enough to be transplanted are in the greenhouse. Today there will be thermonters on the west side where the pansies go so Bekah can see how well the stoves hold the temperature. There probably won't be another night as cold as tonight.
It wasn't quite time to get a load of feed but I was low on sunflower seeds. We've been feeding some to the hens as a treat to see if we could get the old hens back to laying after their molt. The chick order blank was on the feed store counter. It is already time to order chicks for the April hatch. That is when we get them. We want to have eggs next fall when the old hens stop laying.
A flock of a hundred or so goldfinches and pine siskins came yesterday morning. They quickly cleaned out the feeders. All the seeds I had thrown on the snow for the ground feeders were gone. Most of them left early in the afternoon. Will today's weather make them decide to stay where there is food, shelter and water for a day? There was a small flock of robins in lower Bradford. I thought perhaps they were ones that had been around all winter. The ones that cleaned all the berries off my winterberry bushes at Christmas. But there was another flock of about 50 in Charlston.
May God bless you on this day, Sally
