7/11/19
4 things you can't get back:  The stone after it's thrown, the word after it's said, the occasion after it's missed, time after it's gone.

Some clouds, calm, and 56 degree.  Mostly cloudy today with a stiff SSE breeze, a high of 74, and a low of 62 tonight with rain after midnight.  Rain tomorrow with a SE breeze, a high of 72 and a low of 64 tomorrow night with possible thundershowers and fog.  Partly cloudy Saturday with a west breeze, a high of 85 and a low of 63.  Sunny Sunday with a strong WNW breeze, a high of 80 and a low of 60.  Sunny Monday with a stiff NW breeze, a high of 83 and a low of 59.  Partly cloudy Tuesday with a brisk WSW breeze, a high of 87 and a low of 66..  PM thunderstorms Wednesday with a west breeze, a high of 87 and a low of 65.   Scattered thunderstorms next Thursday and Friday with NW breezes, highs about 85 and lows of 64.  Pleasant next weekend with NW breezes, highs of 87 and lows of 64.  Scattered thunderstorms to start the week of the 22ed. Pleasant days the rest of the week with temperatures in the eighties.
Darel had a pleasant day, some of it spent in his chair at the greenhouse, some in the front room with the air conditioner.  Staying cool when the temperature is in the nineties is nice but boring.  He was ready to go to the Creamery in the evening..
I weeded and watered yesterday.  After I did some hand watering I turned on the soaker hose under the cucumbers and weeded.  There are lots of little cucumbers.  We had summer squash for supper.  My poor David phlox that the woodchuck ate to the ground is coming back.  A shadow of its former glory but with TLC it will return.  It is surrounded by self seeded little verbena bonariensis plants.  That corner will be a late bloomer this year.  I'll put some cosmos in there today.  I cleaned the weeds and grass out along that wall so this afternoon before the rain I can plant cosmos, purple cone flowers and more verbena.  I'll have both blossoms and butterflies!
Our barns are filling up, so are other peoples's barns.  Two loads of hay went to Hermon last night.  By noon all the hay that is down will be mowed away.  Then a few days break and more fields will be mowed.  The break will give me chance to plant my flowers and flowers for a cutting garden.  Even with lots of watering newly planted plants struggle with sun and ninety degrees.  It was in the mid nineties all day yesterday.  Godd for the hay, hard on the crew..
     Have a good day, Sally
