Darel had a good day yesterday. he made it out to the greenhouse but it was cold and damp so he made his way back in front of the TV.
The cole crops are planted and nearly all mulched. Lots of sprouts for the hens next winter. i got wet but there were no mosquitos or black flies braving the rain. Tammara worked on perennials and the display area. Lots of empty benches meant more plants could come out of the greenhouse. One hanging purple wave left, three large tubs of purple waves. Plenty of vegetables left.
Today Tammara is going to move the vegetables and set up a display of plants to have around your patio or picnic table that will help keep the mosquitos away. As the black flies are dying off the mosquitos seem to think they need to take their place. I have a lot of Walkers low nepeta/catmint. I'll dig some of it up to sell. We give away common mint, peppermint and mountain mint
I am thankful for the swallows. All day they swoop through the air catching mosquitos and other bugs. About a week after they leave in late summer we can count on an outbreak of flies. I'm always pleased when some have little ones and don't leave with the main flock.
I had to replant a lot of my gourds. the plants are large enough to plant so that is on my list for today. Have a good day, Sally
