A 30% chance of a shower next Sunday morning with a stiff SW breeze, a high of 74 and a low of 58. Partly cloudy Labor Day with a high of 74, a brisk WSW breeze and a low of 52. Darel had a good day yesterday. He took a wheelchair tour and than sat in the garage watching Gilbert split a big stack of kindling wood. We had lunch in the garage. It is so cool and pleasant there thanks to Nicole, Andrew and Gayle cleaning and rearranging for our anniversary party. An afternoon nap seemed good after being up so long.
I'll be picking some winter squash today for the stand. We had one for supper and it was good. As I glance through the patch it looks like we have a good crop. I haven't checked the pumpkins yet. I need jeans on to walk through those vines! A Jungle.
I pulled weeds in the pathways around the perennials. Still some sections to weed. The sections that had nettles are cleaned out. Even though the nettles were small I needed leather gloves. Thanks to the beautiful weather I have to spend some time watering every day. The mums are looking good. Some will be in blossom for Labor Day.
Last winter Doug picked me up some suet cakes on sale at Tractor supply. I always though suet cakes were about the same. Seeds must have been cheaper than suet, the suet cakes are packed with seeds held together with suet. the birds prefer suet cakes mostly suet. Heather says she bought some cakes once the birds wouldn't eat. The birds are eating this suet, just not as much as the other kind I had. I don't buy songbird seed mixes because of the weeds i find under the feeders. I'll be checking for strange weeds around the suet feeders.
Enjoy your day, Sally
