Darel only has a few things left on his "bucket list".  He has very much been looking forward to our 60th anniversary party September 14th.  Yesterday he asked the family if we could move the celebration up to this coming Sunday, the 20th.  They said sure.  We are having an open house Sunday afternoon starting at two here at the farm. He doesn't want to miss church but our church starts at 9:30 in the summer so he will get home in time to rest.  He says he won't, he might miss something.  Although at times he struggles to get words out he enjoys visiting with friends and neighbors and he loves listening to the conversation around him.  He still jokes and comes up with smart comments. We'd love to have you stop by and say hello.
Keep it simple is the theme.  Harvesting and haying must continue.  It is a busy time of the year.  September would be just as busy.  I picked cucumbers again yesterday.  so did Gilbert.  He has enough so they are five for a dollar now.  It is good he has plenty, I don't have enough.  I don't have cabbage, broccoli or cauliflower this summer.  Why Darel was in the hospital all the plants got sold.  Gilbert had some extra cabbage but they are all sold.  I picked tomatoes again yesterday, now there won't be any picking for a few days.  Most of the blue berries are picked.  Only an occasional raspberry left.
The bleeding hearts have turned yellow.  Today i'll have Jordn weed whack them down.   I have some nice coleus left.  Rachael can plant some of it where the bleeding hearts were.
The peppermint seems to be working, the "critter" hasn't dug the whole behind the Quonset hut back out since i filled the hole with peppermint.  Lexi is having some mouse problems I'm going to cut some today for her to put in her drawers.
Lots i want to do and nice weather to do it in.  Have a good day, Sally
