Bekah has taken warm water out to the hens and is breaking the ice in the cows water tub.  There are those who think farming is a seasonal job. Even the greenhouse is a year round job.  We choose to produce as much of our own food as possible.  This week Bekah has been rendering tallow.  She saved the fat from the beef animal butchered this fall.  A desire for a change in lifestyle is one of the things that has brought the grandkids back to the farm.  Kicking the processed, ready made food style of eating isn't easy.  Sugar, salt and "taste enhancers"  are habit forming!  The companies producing all those bags and boxes of 'food" in the snack aisle have invested a lot of money in ingredients that make people crave more of their "food".  Profit is more important than health.  Food dyes have been in the news making us read labels.  My iron tablets had 3 different dyes in them.  Why?  I never thought to check the label on iron tablets for dyes!  I'm glad I raised my family on a homestead in Alaska.  We couldn't afford all the processed foods even when they were available.
May your day be blessed, Sally
