8/11/24 God is in control but he doesn't expect you to lean on a shovel and pray for a hole.

A long visit with  Rachael and Evan was the highlight of the day yesterday.  Rachael had carefully figured out when the new pullets would start laying, about three weeks.   I haven't felt as good the last few days.  Rachael gave me the idea that too many tomato sandwiches might be to blame.  No tomato sandwiches today just to see.  Evan took a cast iron skillet that I had bought at a yardsale when we got married in 1957. .  The bottom was no longer flat.  He is going to see about refurbishing it.  I bought a new skillet when we started using the glass top electric stove this summer.  Not only is Evan a good cook but he likes to use the old iron cookware.  Of course there was lots of conversation about Tiffany and Evan's wedding.  (Yes, the sisters are both marrying a man named Evan),  Tiffany's Evan is Greek, the wedding will be a traditional Greek wedding so there is lots to talk about. Very different from Bekah's simple but beautiful country wedding.  It pleases me that Tiffany cares enough about Evan to embrace a wedding that reflects his culture and is important to him. The wedding will be in Rhode Island.  I'm hoping I will be well enough to go.
The vegetable stand was very busy.  As wet as the ground is, a surprising number of customers bought plants.  Around here if we were to dig a hole it would fill with water!
Our neighbor, who is a beekeeper, stopped by.  He is going to bring us a hive of bees this week.  Without our bees pollinating the cucumbers we are getting a lot more misshapen ones.
Church this morning, not sure what the afternoon will bring.  Probably we'll do some of the things on yesterday's to-do list.  May God be with you, Sally
