 5/17/24

The greatest thing you’ll ever learn / Is just to love and be loved in return.

That slight chance of a shower yesterday produced .43 inch of rain. It is sunny, calm and 54 degrees.  This morning's sun will give way to clouds with occasional showers this afternoon, a high of 78 with an east breeze.  49% chance of showers tomorrow with an east breeze, a high of 68, a low of 53.  Cloudy Sunday with a NE breeze, a high of 67, a low of 47.  Partly cloudy Tuesday and Wednesday  with  brisk SSW breezes,  high in the 80s,  lows of 56 and 59.  Scattered Thunderstorms Thursday with a brisk south breeze, a high of 75, a low of 56.  Partly cloudy next Friday with a brisk WNW breeze, a high of 75, a low of 51.    PM showers next Sunday lasting into Tuesday morning, the 28th.   NE breezes with highs arout 67, lows around 50.  Cloudy Wednesday the 29th with a SE breeze, a high of 71, a low of 51.  Some showers the 30th and 31st with ESE breezes, highs of 70, lows of 53..  The long range summer forecast published today forecasts this to be the hottest summer on record.
I got up late.  Then I had to figure out how to heat water for tea on the electric stove.  There are three settings on the burner, I had to choose the right setting for the kettle. Instead of just moving the kettle to the front of the stove.   The tea did get made.  A customer called to see if he could come early.  Bekah said yes but not until after the school bus came at seven.  Then I read that this summer could be the hottest summer on record, beating the summer of 1936.
Versant was supposed to be here at 8:30 yesterday to change the meter to a modern one that could accommodate a shut off switch so we could run the generator as a whole house generator when the power went out.  The electrician got here at 8:30, versant got here at 9:40.  At least they didn;t cancel.  It took them ten minutes tops.  Darel found out that electric recliners cannot be used on a generator some years ago.  He tried to and the chair transformer burned out,  If a hot summer equals lots of thunderstorms equals lots of power outages we are prepared.
Before I left for the doctor's i checked the weather, the forecast was for clouds but a very slight chance of a shower.  I went from the doctors to the grain store.  On the way home the slight chand of a shower that gave us ,43 of rain started.  I was almost home, Jay threw a tarp over the truck, no granin got wet.  Heather and Darel were up in the field dressed in tank tops and shorts planting strawberries.   They left the sunroof on their car open.  They got soaked, so did the car seat.  Unexpect breaks of hot sunshine fueled the unexpected rain.  Will this be a pattern?  We were very pleased to get the rain.
I said we didn't have very many hummingbirds.  We have flocks of them!  Seventeen were counted at the feeders last night.  I have four feeders plus the oriole feeder.  The hummingbirds go to the oriole feeders as much as their own.
May your day be blessed, Sally
