I got some weeding and planting done yesterday, not as much as I hoped but some. I put some onion plants in one of the raised beds that I'd planted in a tray. They were tiny, dead looking ones Jay was going to toss when he finished planting onions in May. They are nice plants now but will they make onions? Worth a try. Late afternoon Darel's Heather and I decided to go visit Beth at Hutchinson's greenhouse. She had quite a few fushicas left. Because of soil problems the plants hadn't been large enough to sell in May. Like some of ours. Like some of ours, some of hers just died. The soil company representative here in Maine told her the company had had breakdowns and couldn't get parts. So they hired another company to make the soil.
Beth has eleven greenhouses, each one twice the size of our one. She grows plants that we don't have room for. I bought a few, Heather bought one or two of several different ones. Mostly ones that aren't our zone so she will have to take them up or take cuttings to winter them over. Between what we bought and some Beth gave us we had a full pick up.
Shortly after we headed home we got a call from Doug. He and Nicole had gone to look at Mike and Heather's new property in Dedham. When they got ready to come home Doug's truck started, quit and smelled like burning wire. So we turned around and went to Dedham to give them a ride home. Triple A took the truck to Quirk's.
It was late when we got home so we didn't unload plants. I'll be going to church online this morning. Which is ok. I'll have time to do some more planting before the rain. The fuschias go in hanging pots. I can pot them up in the garage when it is raining.
May God bless you on this day, Sally
