Yesterday morning was paperwork. I paid my bills, telling myself I should be thankful I could pay them instead of fussing to myself about having to be inside on a nice day. I contacted a nursery about a box of plants that had arrived smashed. The nursery had asked us not to file a claim until we found out how many live. Not many. I had to contact another nursery about the service berries, they never leafed out.
In the afternoon I installed the pump in the garden pond. There is water running into the pond out of a log now. I was pleased with my work, the running water will add oxygen. The water is clear but no frogs. I did see some tadpoles. Jay has made the pond deeper in hopes that it will be easier for the frogs to hide from the crows and raccoons. I pulled a poison nightshade plant. Birds muxh have bought a seed when they came for a drink.
I weeded the flowerbed by the generator shack and fixed the hole Willis had dug. Flowers are planted between the hostas and plants are hanging on the shed. I need to finish setting out flower plants over the next few days because starting next Wednesday it will be quite hot to still be setting our plants without fussing over them. It looks like hay wagons will finally get to roll next week!
Jay laid the plastic for the winter squash plants. He'd like to set out the plants before this weekend's rain. Bekah worked on perennials. We have tires stacked on gravel in a corner by the garage and rose garden.. She made the tire beds two tires high in hopes deeper soil would give a better crop with less watering. When all the tires were filled she planted them with wee be little decorative pumpkins.
We are looking forward to getting started early this morning why the weather is nice. May God bless you on this day, Sally
