Yesterday was a lovely spring day, sunshine and temperatures in the seventies. The new greenhouse on the back of the Quonset hut is where the lilacs were. Jay and Bekah already had some ideas of layout change and now the new greenhouse will make more. Listening to their plans I think shopping for our perennials and shrubs will be more like a pleasant walk. With some places to sit down and imagine the plants in your yard. Bekah got lots more pruning and moving petunias to the cold frames. That made room to transplant more tomatoes.
The ice melted in the stand so Jay could clean winter's debris up. The egg refrigerator is now in the stand. There are eggs in it and in the egg refrigerator in the house. It won't be long before there is asparagus and rhubarb to put in the stand. The garlic is up. The feed company called with the news that the baby chicks had arrived. I went after them right away so they could get some water and food. They quickly settled into the warm brooder. Rachael and Even are home this weekend because Rachael is doing a presentation at UMO today. They were excited to be here when their chicks arrived. I'm caring for the chicks until they graduate next month and move home. Rachael starts graduate school at UMO next fall. She has a job there this summer.
Heather moved the pansies out to the display stand for sale. The hanging basket pansies are so pretty she planted some more of them. My crocus are blooming. Just last week I looked at the pile of snow on them and wondered if it would ever melt! Today I will go to Corinth to plant pansies in the church box. The propane tank that feeds the heater in the hoop house needs refilling so I have to make time to go.
May God bless you on this day, Sally
