Maine Maple Syrup Sunday celebrates the state's healthy sweet treat.
Clear, calm and 27 degrees. Some clouds today with a stiff west breeze, a high of 47, dropping to 19 tonight. Sunny but chilly tomorrow and Tuesday with stiff WNW breezes, highs about 35 and lows 12-15. Looking ahead the next few days appears to be our last cold snap. Warming up some Wednesday with a west breeze, sun, a high of 43 and a low of 22. Partly cloudy Thursday with a stiff SSW breeze, a high of 50 and a low of 32. Morning clouds/afternoon sun Friday with a stiff SW breeze, a high of 52 and a low of 36. Showers are forecast for all of next week with highs about 50 and lows mostly in the mid thirties. Next Monday and Tuesday will be a bit cooler but still spring like.
Darel had a quiet day yesterday. I won't know until he gets up if we'll be going to church. His pulse have been great all week but they were high last night.
As soon as I get home from Sunday School of Sunday School and church, if Darel is up to church, I will water the greenhouse. then one or both of the Andrews will roll up the hose. thinking as they do it that it will be the last time until we hook up the summer hoses. On Thursday Tamarra and I will put it back out. With the sun in the forecast we'll be putting it back out just in time to water again.
The back room is all cleaned out ready for plants on Thursday. Holes in the plastic taped up. The holes were on the side where the spring firewood is stacked so the plastic couldn't be replaced. Wind whipping the plastic against the firewood. A summer repair.
Debbie did lots of transplanting, I did some. According to the National Gardening Society this is the year of Salvias. We have a nice selection of perennial salvias and four different annual salvias. Happy hummingbirds and other pollinators!
The driveway is bare. So nice walking to and from the greenhouse. But the path the Andrew's shoveled to the cold frame is ice. A dusting of ashes will go on it today, It may be chilly the next few days but the sun is strong. So much snow left! I have some apples I've saved for the robins. Wednesday morning I'll dump them on the back lawn. This may be the worm moon but there is a lot of snow between the worms and the robins.
Too long to put in the subject line: If you don't ask me for anything I don't have to say no. If you don't ask me for anything i don't get the opportunity to say yes. We can choose our attitude.
Have a good day, Sally
