It poured all night but there wasn't any wind and it didn't cool off until a short time ago. I only put wood on the fires once but I'll probably be putting wood on them every three or four hours today. There is some white slop out there now, not enough to measure. Any wood I save with the warm weather this week I'll burn up Sunday and Monday. We are going to move into the back room today so I'll have to heat it. We'll be putting flowers and herbs that don't like the warm greenhouse out thee but thirteen is too cold.
We haven't seen the cardinals the last few days. Last week there was a male in the chestnut tree and another one in the birch tree by the greenhouse. They spent their days calling for a mate. Other years once we stop hearing the mating songs we don't see them until fall. Will the wet snow/slush bring them back to the feeders? I filled the feeders this morning. i was afraid to put seeds in the platform feeders for fear the snow forecast north of here would sneak down. As it was I had to clean the icy slush off the tube feeders.
Spring! Have a good day, Sally
