Wednesday evening 40 some family members and a few friends gathered here at the farm for a prime rib, lobster/sweetcorn dinner.  Eileen, Kevin and family catch and process about 100 salmon every summer.  Eileen bought enough smoked salmon for everyone to have smoked salmon dip.  The children had a wonderful week, all these uncles giving them attention.  Except two year old  Ruby.  Uncle Gilbert would try to get her to at least look at the other uncles but she would just bury her face in his shoulder.  Or sneak out to the greenhouse to hide out with Uncle Jay.  The first day, 2 year old Levi refused to come into the house.  By the second day he decided life was wonderful with more uncles!
Yesterday was a bittersweet day.  Leaving memories of a wonderful six days visit, sadness as our Alaska family headed to Boston to catch flights home.  Keith and Tami's flight was yesterday so they left early.  Kevin and Eileen's flight is today.  They toured a bit on their way to Boston and spent the night closer to the airport.  Allergies seemed to be affecting everyone as they left.  They promised it would not be so long before they would be back as it has been since their last visit.
I spent much of yesterday researching brands of electric stove, then shopping for the best price.  Before this week one of the burners on the range wasn't working.  The oven often didn't seem to be the right temperature.  This week the oven started shutting off whenever the door was opened.  The oven would get up to temperature, we'd open the oven to put food in to cook and it would shut off.  We'd have to restart it.  A very plain new stove will be here on the 27th.  I'm hoping plain =less to go wrong.
Jay, with some help from Gilbert's garden, kept the vegetable stand full last week.  Tami is a gardener, she enjoyed checking out the gardens and even helping harvest.  The hummingbirds put on a show all week.  Hummingbirds are very rare in Alaska.
I will be washing lobster cooking pots today , the last trace of a week that will last forever in our memories. May your day be blessed, Sally
