Yesterday was a quiet day, after the last seven days it seemed very quiet. Keith called shortly after noon, they were home. The flight home was uneventful. Kevin and Eileen should be getting home about the same time today.
Bekah cut the catnip and put it in the dehydrator. She'll make catnip bags for cats to play with out of the dried catnip. They loaded a load of hay to deliver this morning. Otherwise it was the usual watering and harvesting. Maegin weed whacked some bamboo that was growing back.
As they get older the hummingbird fledglings are coming to the feeders less. I was refilling them every day, sometimes twice a day. Now it's every other day. They will be heading south in two weeks, They will all be fighting over the feeders one day, the next day, usually September 5th or 6th they are gone. After that we'll see a hummingbird once in a while. Stragglers from the north stopping by to feed. A few weeks ago I cut back the nicotiana flowers. They will rebloom, they are a hummingbird favorite, They are resistant to frost, their blossoms last through October. Red Salvia, another hummingbird favorite is planted under the get together room windows. The purple wave and fuchsia baskets are another favorite that last through fall. I usually fertilize them every Friday or Saturday. They didn't get fertilized last week so that is on the top of my to do list today. There is lots of food for stragglers!
May your day be blessed, Sally
