We lost power during the night.  Fortunately I woke up.  I woke Bekah, she started the little generator for the chicks' heat lamps.  They were already piling up but the brooder warmed up quickly.  They were spread out eating in just a few minutes.  The power came back on about 5:30, the internet about an hour later.
The new bees came yesterday.  They settled in their hive quietly.  Perhaps  the presence of the new bees put the older hive on edge.  They've been a quiet hive, Jay has never had to use smoke on them.  But yesterday when Jay opened up the hive to check on them they attacked.  He managed to put the hive back together before leaving but he got several stings.  Most of them are healed this morning.  He won't skip smoking and putting all of his bee suit on.them before he opens the hive again.
I mowed the back yard yesterday.  It's been about 15 years since I mowed but it looks good.  Except for a low spot that I stayed out of because of standing water.  A good place for a rain garden.   Some plants that soak up the water.   It is close to my Charles Joly lilac.  Lilacs don't like wet feet.  Maegin weedwhacked and dug up some spots in my kitchen garden for me.  Today I will mulch them.
May your day be blessed, Sally
