Despite the gloomy, wet weather lots of plants left thr nursery for their home.  Lots of Coast of Maine left too as people improve their soil or are building raised beds.  It's not too cold for lots of plants, we are the ones who want some warmth.  Along with the tomatoes and peppers.  It is only mid May, Memorial weekend is early this year.
I think I was feeling better and overdid last week.  I slept well Saturday night but couldn't get it together to get to church.  At 9am I sat in my recliner with my Bible and woke up  after twelve when everyone else came home from church.
In the afternoon I watched Ruby so Maegin could help Jay and Bekah.  Darel's Heather was helping too.  I wintered over eight hanging fuschias in the cellar.  All of the baskets had live plants in them but some only had one or two.  Why I was watching Ruby I cleaned them up and put them outside in a sheltered place.  Some I will take apart and combine.  I like to hang five or six on the barn.  I put some peppermint I wintered over out too.  I wintered over three mandevilla vines.  It is still cool for them but one vine was in my bedroom, nearly as cool as outside and not much light.  Plus it was tangled with two fuschias so it went out too.
We have so many hummingbirds.  I cleaned and filled their feeders,  They were whizzing past my head and scolding me the whole time I was cleaning and filling the feeders.
There are a lot of hummingbirds in the nursery too.  I filled the oriole feeder just in case one comes by.  The hummingbirds feed on it.  We had orioles for four or five days.  The rose-breasted grosbeaks are nesting in the apple trees. They come to the sunflower seed feeders once in a while.
Iplan to take advantage of these few dry days to plant the flower bed under the get together room windows. Before I plant I need to wash the windows and the house siding.  I have to get the garden planted and mulch before it rains again so mud doesn't splash up on the siding.  There is a gutter but wind blows the rain in.  Last summer I wasn't able to do it so Evan and Rachel did it for me.  I was thankful they did it last year and I'm thankful to be able to do it this year.
May your day be blessed, Sally
